- You request defensive driving on or before the appearance date on your citation
- You have not had a ticket dismissed within the 12 month period preceding the date of your citation
- You were not cited for speeding more than 25 miles over the speed limit or in a construction zone with worker’s present
- You can present proof of valid insurance and a current Texas driver’s license
- You pay applicable court cost of $ 108.00 to the court on or before your appearance date
- You complete a Driver’s Safety Course and return the Certificate of Completion (court copy), along with a certified copy of your driving record to the court within 90 days
Failure to take the course in the allowed time or failure to return your certificate of completion will result in your having to pay the court the amount of the original fine and court cost and a final conviction will be entered on your driving record. You are not eligible for this dismissal if you carry a commercial driver’s license, or if you are accused of driving in a construction zone with worker’s present.
